HR/Payroll Coordinator
Chesterfield, MI
Company manufactures automotive parts (approx. 55 employees)
Shift Time: 8AM-4:30PM
Pay Rate: up to $30/hr, may consider higher rate based on yrs of exp. 

General Summary:
Provide assistance to the Accounting Manager/Controller.

Essential Job Functions:
Payroll:
• Perform annual reconciliations for payroll (e.g., W-2 to G/L, 941s to G/L, etc.)
• Preparation of the monthly staffing summaries.
• Maintain Payroll System and Process weekly payroll items.
• Maintain the timekeeping system for time tracking and attendance. Review punches for accuracy.
• Monitor deductions for 401(k), friend of the court, garnishments, etc.
• Maintain compensation summaries for the ex-patriots.
• Perform annual check of employee data before issuing Form W-2s.
• Assist with miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
• Assist Managers and Supervisors with timekeeping system questions.
Benefits:
• Perform analysis for health insurance.
• Monitor 401(k) plan compliance.
• Review the Form 5500 and SAR for the 401(k) plan. Draft the Form 5500 and SAR for the welfare plan (if over 100 employees).
• Prepare for the annual workers’ compensation, and general insurance audits.
• Prepare for annual 401(k) audit (if over 100 employees).
• Administer fringe benefits (e.g., health, dental, vision, etc.), including census and billings.
• Administer STD benefits including W-2 adjustments, FICA adjustments, etc.
• Administer incentive, tuition reimbursement, and 10; 20 & 30-year anniversary plans.
• Administer FSA, DCAP, and Section 125 Plans.
• Annually, check the status of dependents.
• Administer FMLA leaves, WC leaves, and COBRA. Prepare schedules and gather information as necessary for the benefit renewals.
• Prepare responses to the MI-UIA as necessary.
• Compute and enter year-end tax adjustments (e.g., excess life, auto, housing, etc.).
• Assist with miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
HR:
• Assist with bonus and raise computations.
• Ensure new hire paperwork is completed, including checklist.
• Perform annual review of files to determine Acknowledgments of Employee Handbooks are on file for new hires.
• Assist in providing documents for ISO14001, IATF 16949, MIOSHA and various other audits.
• Track employee training and discipline.
• Organize all Company employee events, such as Employee Appreciation Day and Christmas party.
• Prepare forms for 6 month and annual reviews and maintain records.
• Maintain mandatory training matrix, review at least once per month.
• Arrange for annual hearing testing and maintain records.
• Ensure the company is in compliance with State & Federal laws at all times in regard to personnel issues.
• Function as advisor and coach/counselor as required to resolve employee issues along with investigating complaints.
• Ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees and consistent interpretation of corporate policies and practices.
• Writes and places newspaper ads to solicit resumes and applications for consideration and conducts/sets up interviews as needed.
• Tracks applicants/resumes etc.
• Conducts new-hire orientation, covering payroll, benefits, and company policies through review of company handbook.
• Assist with miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Thorough understanding of accounting fundamentals.
• Detail oriented and analytical.
• Good verbal communication skills
• Able to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Constant use of eyes and hands in data entry, processing of paperwork, and phone calls.
• Frequent walking throughout facility.
• Long periods of sitting at a computer.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in a cross-cultural environment.
• Analytical skills to identify and solve a wide range of practical and intellectual problems.
• Thorough understanding of HR Law.
• Proficient knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Education and Required Experience:
MUST be proficient in ADP Workforce Now payroll 
Accounting/Payroll - minimum of 4-years of equivalent experience
Human Resources – minimum of 4-years prior experience
Knowledge of Accounting as this person will process journal entries for payroll
Knowledge and/or experience with Human resources

Permanent job - 90 day contract to direct hire, may consider direct-hire from start for the right fit
