Job Overview
A Steel Tube Floop Operator (often referred to as a Floor Operator in steel tubing manufacturing) is responsible for operating and overseeing machinery and processes on the production floor to ensure efficient production of steel tubing.
Job Responsibilities
Machine Operation: Operate floop or related steel tubing production equipment, such as forming, welding, or cutting machines, to produce tubing according to specifications.
Material Handling: Load raw materials (e.g., steel coils or strips) into machines and unload finished tubing, using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material-handling equipment.
Process Monitoring: Monitor production processes, including speed, alignment, and quality, to ensure consistent output and detect issues like jams or defects.
Equipment Setup: Adjust machine settings, such as rollers, guides, or welders, to meet specific tubing dimensions and tolerances.
Quality Checks: Perform basic inspections of tubing for defects, such as cracks, improper welds, or dimensional inaccuracies, and report findings to quality control.
Maintenance Tasks: Conduct routine maintenance, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment, to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operation.
Troubleshooting: Identify and address minor operational issues with machinery, escalating complex problems to maintenance or supervisory staff.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including wearing PPE (e.g., gloves, safety glasses) and ensuring a safe, organized work area.
Production Documentation: Record production data, such as output quantities, downtime, or material usage, for reporting and inventory purposes.
Team Coordination: Work with other operators, quality inspectors, and supervisors to maintain production schedules and resolve issues efficiently.
Work Environment
Fast-paced manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
May require working rotating shifts, overtime, or weekends depending on production needs.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment with proper safety measures.
