Operations Manager
Salary: $90 - 120K/yr
Location: Northern Oakland County area, company is an automotive supplier 
Job Purpose/Summary: 
The Operations Manager owns and drives manufacturing production  efficiency, quality and timeliness supporting our customers and continuous improvement of MPI’s  operations. Balance competing objectives and build the teamwork to achieve the overall company goals. 
Will manage approx. up to 20 employees 
Key Responsibility Areas 
• Oversee production output, including managing shift supervisors, quality technician,  manufacturing engineer, and procurement team. 
• Ensure effective material controls, process controls, and equipment utilization. 
• Manage operational personnel, focusing on performance, development, and safety. 
• Achieve key performance metrics including on-time delivery, quality, cost of poor quality,  and throughput efficiency. 
Roles and Responsibilities 
• Team Management: Lead and manage production shift supervisors and staff to ensure  production goals are met. 
• Resource Allocation: Balance production load and meet customer deadlines for timely  shipping. 
• Production Scheduling: Develop and optimize production schedules to enhance resource  efficiency and meet production targets. (PRP) 
• Procurement and Inventory: Oversee procurement and inventory management to maintain  optimal stock levels, ensuring on-time production and minimizing excess inventory. (MRP) 
• Process Improvement: Support key assembly and manufacturing areas by enhancing  equipment maintenance, process improvements, and controls. 
• Quality and Compliance: Enforce processes and procedures to meet quality standards and  improve throughput. 
• Customer Support: Address quality initiatives, customer inquiries, and QS requirements. 
• Capacity Planning: Assess and plan for capacity requirements, including staffing and  equipment needs. 
• Data Tracking: Monitor and report key metrics, using data to drive operational  improvements and enhance customer service. 
• Strategic Involvement: Participate in management meetings and strategy sessions,  contributing to overall company metrics. 
• New Product Launches: Coordinate with the manufacturing team to support new product  launches and collaborate with the product development team. 
• Plant Layout: Evaluate and refine plant layout for improved material flow, efficiency, and  safety. 
• Maintenance Schedule: Develop and implement a predictive maintenance schedule for  machinery and equipment. 
• Cultural Leadership: Promote a strong culture of safety, sustainability, operational  excellence, and continuous improvement. 
Education and Experience (Required)
• Min 5 years of progressive manufacturing experience in a lean-oriented, multi-shift  environment, preferably within the industrial products or automotive sectors. 
• Min 2 years of supervisory experience. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Teams. 
Other:
• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain 
• Experience with ERP Systems; expertise in PLEX strongly preferred. 
Skills Required 
• Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills. 
• Professional demeanor with a high ethical standard and ability to handle confidential  information. 
• Expertise in plastic injection molding, assembly, part design, and tooling. 
• Knowledge of OSHA safety practices, quality standards, and inventory processes. 
• Familiarity with TS and ISO quality systems, problem-solving techniques, and Six Sigma. 
• Strong business acumen and financial understanding. 
• High level of interpersonal skills to lead and motivate teams effectively. 
• Effective verbal and written communication to communicate complex ideas. Spanish  proficiency is a benefit. 
• Ability to read BOMs and CAD drawings. 
• Excellent conflict resolution and decision-making abilities. 
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). 
Work Environment/Physical Demands 
• Work is mostly performed in production and office setting. 
• Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are mandatory in the production area. 
• Infrequent domestic and international travel required.

Permanent position - 90 day contract to direct hire, however will consider direct hire for a great match
