Industrial Painter
Detroit, MI
Company designs and manufactures signs
Shift: 7am-3:30pm Mon-Fri
Pay Rate: Up to $25 based on experience

Overview:
The Painter position is responsible for preparing mixtures to match color tones, paint set-up, and all aspects of painting.
This position works closely with Engineering and assists the Plant Manager in departmental duties. This position reports
to the Plant Manager.

Essential Functions:
Must follow all safety, regulatory, and environmental/hazardous standards.
Mix, apply, and finish body filler and filler primers for surface prep and minor repairs. 
Must be able to spray paint aluminum, steel, and plastics.
Must be able to plan, layout and determine work procedures for each order including knowledge of material properties to determine the sequence of work steps.
Must be able to prepare various substrates for painting.
Must be able to mix and paint with polyurethane paint system.
Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings provided by our design department.
Maintain and organize inventory of paint and related supplies.
Perform routine maintenance on mixing booth and paint booth, including filter changes.
Clean and maintain all painting equipment.
Must be able to plan, layout, determine work procedures, have knowledge of material properties, and determine the sequence of work steps for setting up work pieces.
Must perform quality checks before and after painting.
Work with a combination of hand tools and power tools.

Required Experience:
Experience with HVLP gravity fed paint gun 
Mixing and spraying 2-part single stage polyurethane finishes
Mixing and spraying 2-part base / clear polyurethane finishes
Mixing and spraying 1K and 2K etching primers 
Mixing and spraying 2-part epoxy and polyurethane sealers
Mix, apply, and finish body filler for surface prep and minor repairs. 
Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Physically able to bend, lean, kneel, reach, occasionally, in order to paint hard – to– reach areas.
Physically able to use stepstool, A-frame stepladder, scaffold, or scissor lift, in order to paint tall items, when needed

Education 
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
5 + years in related experience and/or training.
