Quality Engineer
Rochester Hills, MI
Company is a plastic injection facility, manufacturer small precision auto parts, connectors etc. 
Salary: $70-$90k/yr. 
The Quality Engineer has responsibilities to support manufacturing process control, product quality, new product realization, problem solving, customer interface, adherence of co’s Quality Management System and deployment of the Core Tools.
  • MUST have Knowledge / Experience within the automotive industry
MAIN GOALS
Quality Policies & Procedures: 
  • Respects and Observes Quality Management System Policies, Procedures & Instructions; working knowledge of IATF16949 & Customer-Specific Requirements
  • Awareness of Quality Policy, Quality Targets & Objectives, and Customer Focus
  • Knowledgeable of product features, defects, and failure modes.
  • Communicates and reacts company’s Communication-Escalation Policy.
  • Respects the implementation of preservation of product by exercising care in safe handling of product and proper tagging/labeling of product.
  • Respects the implementation and proper management of Suspect and Nonconforming Material Process; review and authority of the disposition of scrap / suspect material.
Safety Policies & Procedures: 
Respects 5S Policy by keeping a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Main Technical Competencies: 
  • Interfaces with customer for New Project/Program Launches, Customer Rejects
  • Able to read engineering product print; cascade necessary requirements of special product and process characteristics and Customer-Specific Requirements across Quality Core Tools documents and continued conformance analysis
  • Ability to utilize and deploy the 8D Problem Solving Methodology; drive corrective actions through a Cross-Functional Team
  • Hand-On approach to problem solving to improve manufacturing process capability and reduction of scrap; experience in manufacturing automation and plastic injection molding
  • Maintains Quality Process Control Plans and Potential Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA) documents for applicable program(s) / product families
  • Dexterity with measurement and metrology equipment; application of Gage Repeatability & Repeatability analysis (GR&R)
  • Facilitate the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and/or Engineering Change Requests for Customer approval of current Product Submission Warrant (PSW).
  • Facilitate Production Trial Runs (PTR) to support engineering process/product changes; coordinate measurement requirements for analysis
  • Review continued conformance product measurements and analyze data
  • Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) studies for analysis and support manufacturing for continuous improvement using applicable software (e.g. MiniTab, Statgraphics, DataPage, PC-DMIS, Excel)
  • Create / maintain operator and quality work instructions
  • Manage and maintain internal product audit program in accordance with internal and external requirements
  • Perform Internal process audits using the automotive process approach as Qualified internal auditor
  • Compile charts, graphs, for analysis (e.g. Ishikawa diagram, histogram, matrices, etc.)
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
Supporting Technical Competencies: 
  • Work overtime as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Able to lift 20lbs
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (preferred!): 
  1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field preferred
  2. Knowledge / Experience with plastic-injection products preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Safety toe footwear is required for this position
Core hours: 7am to 3pm, Mon-Friday
