Job overview:
Under direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring Quality procedures are being followed by manufacturing personnel, reporting defined performance metrics, problem solving and resolution, control of non-conforming product and supplier development.
Qualifications/ Education:
- Engineering degree preferred, An Associates degree with 5 years’ experience is acceptable
- Requires Microsoft Office experience; experience with Discus software preferred
- Team player with excellent communication skills, positive attitude and high
attention to detail
- Must be able to communicate effectively with many levels of personnel
Duties:
- Reads and interprets drawings, customer specifications, process manuals and technical specifications.
- Must be familiar with AS9100 Quality System requirements.
- Perform internal and supplier audits as required.
- Must be able to review and provide disposition on non-conforming material.
- Lead cross-functional teams using various problem solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why and fishbone diagrams.
- Must be able to lead these efforts to satisfactory closure and report results to senior management.
- Writes Customer and Supplier concern notices (CCN/SCN) and provides follow up to closure.
- Review, write and/or revise department work instructions, procedures etc.
- Interface with manufacturing personnel to report drawing/process issues.
- Provides drawing change requests to Engineering as required.
- Prepares Quality Alerts and posts for manufacturing personnel to review.
- Participates in product development team meetings to ensure quality direction is
- established.
- Cross-functional team member for process design activities.
- Interface with suppliers to enforce quality expectations as necessary.
- Supports Quality department metric creation and maintenance.
- Additional duties as assigned
Permanent position – 90 day contract to direct hire or, direct hire from start
