Steel Slitter Operator

Company is a global producer of stainless, electrical and specialty steel
Shift: 2nd Shift Position - Must train on 1st shift
Once moved to 2nd shift there is a 5% shift increase
Pay Rate: Up to $19+/hr based on experience
Responsibilities of a Slitter:
•
As a Slitter Operator, your main responsibility is to setup and operate a slitter according to customer specifications and work orders
•
Your detail, safety, and attentiveness is critical to regular equipment inspection and the ability to measure dimensions, align parts and produce material according to production instructions
•
Inspect arbor and overarm setups to ensure compliance with production instructions
•
Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
•
Thread coil through slitter head, cropping all non-complying material
•
Review and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr and surface condition and ensure compliance with production instructions
•
Set gauge monitoring system (if applicable) and ensure gauge calibration
•
Thread steel mults into recoiler
•
Adjust leveler to correct any shape defects as needed through slitting
•
Run coils at maximum speed, ensuring efficiency and accuracy
•
Monitor strip conditions to ensure compliance with production
•
Document strip conditions, gauge as required and ensure customer specifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
•
Ability to perform complete set-up and operational tasks of slitting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements
•
Ability to use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers
•
Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
•
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
