Yard Team Leader
Loc.: Detroit, Mi
Company is a vehicle & axels distribution yard facility
Pay rate: $18 – 21/hr, with pay increase at 6 month evaluation
Duties:
- Will have: 70% desk work, 30% yard work management of axel S&R
- Building and dispatching loads for transportation carriers
- Creating and filing damage claims
- Vehicle tracking, management of production vehicle builds
- Inspection and arrival of inbound vehicles
- Managing a staff of 15- 25 employees in a fast paced environment.
Summary:
- Service development; coordination with Yard Manager and Team Leaders to ensure service commitment and realization.
- Will have responsibility for Work Quality Standards, Loss and Damage Prevention., Claims, Document Control, Safety and handle personnel matters.
- Will present damage prevention or process changes as required
- Will attend customer meetings, phone conferences, understand customer requirements and meet or exceed their expectations.
- Will generate alternatives and make recommendations on improving area work process.
- Will fill-in for the Yard Manager as necessary and ensure all processes are documented and update as necessary.
Skills/ Experience:
- Seeking min. 2-3 yr leadership/ management experience
- Strong use of MS office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
- Experience with QMS / ISO 9001 would be a plus
- The ability to determine trends and anomalies
- Experience with meeting valid external customer requirements, supervisory/managerial capabilities, process management, and PC skills.
- Oriented towards continuous learning
Hours: Mon. to Fri., 7AM – 4PM, some Saturday, OT occasionally
Environmental
May be exposed to excessive noise depending on job location and operations in progress
May be around moving machinery and equipment on a daily basis
Depending on work location, may be exposed to marked changes in temperature and/or humidity
May be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, radiation, chemicals depending on the work location
May be required to drive motorized equipment depending on the work location
Potentially walks on uneven ground
May be required to drive motorized equipment such as golf cart or company vehicle
