Grinder Machinist (Thread)

Manufacturer and supplier of components for assembly automation, medical applications and mobile machinery
Shift: 1st shift (2nd shift could be accommodated)
Pay Rate: up to $30/hr
Responsibilities:
Setup, program and operate CNC OD Thread grinders according to product specification using knowledge of machine operation and machine to print
Inspect and measure part to determine conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as gauges and micrometers
Lift and position work pieces, manually or with hoists, and secure them safely
Observe machine operations to detect any problems, making necessary adjustments to correct problems
Select machine tooling to be used, using knowledge of machine and production requirements
Study prints, work orders and machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences Mount and position tooling in machine chucks, spindles, or other tool holding devices, using hand tools
Activate machine start up switches according to the specifications
Perform operator level machine maintenance duties based on or supported by our ODR program
Contribute to improvement projects
Experience Required:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as an O.D. Thread Grinder
Experience with GD&T
Experience in a fast-paced machine tool and/or Job Shop environment
Strong shop math skills
Must own their own tools and be willing to purchase tools
Experience with steady rests and/or long parts
Inspect and verify close tolerances
Experience with heat treated materials
Competency Expectations:
Watching gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
Controlling operations of equipment or systems
Conducting tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Keen focus on deliverables
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents including written instructions
Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
Knowledge of machine and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
Demonstrates persistence when tasked with tedious work assignments
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control
Knowledge of basic shop math and its applications
Physical Abilities:
Regularly lift 40 pounds
Regularly perform repetitive tasks
Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
