Job Title: Utility Tech Clerk
Starting Pay Rate: $15.50/hr
Job Summary: A Utility Tech Clerk is responsible for providing technical support and clerical assistance related to utility services. This role involves handling customer inquiries, processing work orders, and maintaining accurate records of utility services.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate and respond to customer complaints and inquiries regarding utility services via phone or in person.
Process work orders for water connects/disconnects, meter re-reads, and other utility services.
Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of utility equipment such as water meters and taps.
Operate light trucks and other equipment as needed for utility service tasks.
Read utility routes and record meter readings within the designated area.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with utility equipment, including change-outs and repairs.
Maintain accurate records of customer accounts, work orders, and meter readings.
Assist with billing processes and ensure timely and accurate billing for utility services.
Provide backup support for meter reading and other utility-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a relevant field preferred.
One year of experience in a utility service or similar role.
Knowledge of utility systems and equipment.
Ability to operate office equipment (e.g., computer, calculator, phone) and perform manual labor.
Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and lift heavy objects.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record (if applicable).
